Hosta Flowers

I saw in a book once that hosta flowers should be removed because they detract from the look of the foliage. So, I actually did that for a few years. Then I came to my senses -- why, I like the flowers! No need to remove them! I've noticed bees love them, too.

Most of my hostas started blooming weeks ago, but just yesterday this one opened up. By the tags I've saved, it should be 'Paul's Glory' or 'Gold Standard'. Both list the flower color as purple, though. The buds do look a little purplish, but you would call these flowers white, wouldn't you? I think the leaves match 'Gold Standard' most closely, so I'm going with that.

Whichever it is, it's pretty. And best of all, the flowers have a nice fragrance.
