Cherry Trees

Cherry trees are blooming all around Charlotte today.  I grabbed a couple of shots as I was running errands yesterday because we are supposed to get rain this weekend and who knows if they'll be so pretty after that.  Cherry blossoms are fleeting as it is...the petals were beginning to drop as I was standing there.  Cherry blossom hair.

These are part of a busy shopping center landscape, but you would never guess from the photos...well, maybe you get a tiny hint from the car back there.  That's Elm Lane.

  1. So Beautiful! Seeing these pictures makes me wish I had a large property, so I could plant more trees. But alas…I’m on a small suburban lot. However, I know I should be thankful for what I have and just admire these beautiful pictures. Thank you for sharing!

  2. Glad you got some pictures of the cherry blossoms, you are right, they are so fleeting. I am trying to figure out a place to have a cherry tree, nothing is jumping out at me yet. (have to watch for the beaver--don't want to give him any new additions to his den!)

    1. no beavers close to me, janet, but i have heard they're a problem in some sections of the greenway. they can be devastating! how do you protect plants from them? a cherry tree would be beautiful beside the lake; i hope you find a spot!

    1. they really are gorgeous, holley, but the bloom time is short. still, the trees have a beautiful shape and look good year round.

  4. So lovely! My neighbor's cherries are blooming now and I am enjoying them immensely since mine finished blooming in February. It is nice to see that such beautiful trees are planting around a shopping mall.

  5. Very beautiful indeed. Here, too, they have begun blooming, though we are much further north. Hot as it has been this week, some trees have only lasted three days or so before rapidly beginning to drop their petals.

    1. the heat makes a big difference...cooler temps will hold the blooms much longer. thanks for stopping by, CG.

  6. I've been admiring them as I drive by. So glad you took the time to snap a few. My backyard cherry lost all its blossoms two or three rains ago.
