Vessel Fern, Angiopteris sp.

Angiopteris is native to the tropics, from the South Pacific to Madagascar.  In some areas where it was introduced, it is an invasive weed.  But at the McMillan Greenhouse, it minds its manners.   I altered this photo with the HDR feature on Picnik.  You can have hours of fun on Picnik.  (They do not pay me or give me free stuff, I just like them.)

  4. Dee, I'm doing mostly indoor gardening this summer, which has turned out to be a good thing this year. We are installing a patio and retaining walls in my backyard and all the plants are jumbled up and scattered around in various pots awaiting replanting this fall. We've lost a few due to this high heat, but most are still hanging in there. Can't wait to get all this hardscape finished!
