Bearded Iris

Bearded Iris, Susie Harwood Garden, UNCC, Charlotte, NC

If you're an iris lover, it's your time! Irises are starting to bloom all over town. I particularly loved the colors of this one. Exposing for the flower in the sun (though it's still a bit overexposed!) left the shady background black—sort of a nice surprise.

  1. Dramatic photo! Are you familiar with all the distinctions and types of Iris? It gets so complicated.

  2. What a beautiful picture! There are so many gorgeous irises in the world! :) Some little bitty ones are blooming along the bank of my long driveway. I need to go photograph them before they are finished. Oh, I forgot to answer you about the Daniel Stowe Gardens. I didn't get there yet, but I do plan to! :)

  4. Darcia, I tend not to get into all the details of iris, azaleas and roses and such. It makes my head hurt. I'll let you become the expert on those things.
